Storm Chasers Honored with 2014 Community Service Award at PRSA Nebraska Paper Anvil Awards Gala Last Night

December 11, 2014

OMAHA, Neb. — At the PRSA Nebraska Paper Anvil Awards Gala Wednesday evening in La Vista, the Omaha Storm Chasers were honored with the 2014 Community Service Award, which recognizes an organization that has made significant contributions to the common good of the community through participation in important activities, elevating the professional practice of Public Relations.

The Storm Chasers had a record-setting year in terms of community involvement as the charitable arm of the team, the Home Run Foundation of Greater Omaha, donated $558,733 to local charities since the start of the last offseason. This total was the largest since the team became the Storm Chasers in 2010.

Highlights included showcasing 78 non-profit groups throughout the 2014 season at Werner Park with the Live Wise Coalition Community Organization of the Night, raising more than $3,000 in Pilger Tornado Relief and nearly 400 combined appearances by players and mascots for local causes in the Omaha Metro.

It is the second Community Service honor the Storm Chasers have received this offseason, as President and General Manager Martie Cordaro was recently named “Community Partner of the Year” by Community 360 in late September.
