June 25, 2012
OMAHA, Neb. — The Omaha Storm Chasers are proud to announce the continuation of Chasers FUNdamentals. The mission of the program is to educate minority youth, ages 8-12, on the basics of playing the sport of baseball. The 2012 season marks the third year for the Chasers FUNdamentals program, which is presented by the Home Run Foundation of Greater Omaha and is run by the Omaha Storm Chasers front office staff.
“It’s a privilege to continue to serve the metro by spreading the great game of baseball to these children,” said Chasers President and General Manager, Martie Cordaro. “It is very gratifying for our staff to be able to work with these children who have never had the opportunity to play the game.”
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Omaha, including North, South, Carter Lake, Westside and King Science are all participating in the eight-week clinic which is every Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Hillside Little League ball fields. The Salvation Army North Corps is also taking part in a four-week session of Chasers FUNdamentals that takes place at the North Corps location.
Bus transportation for the participants of Chasers FUNdamentals to the clinics each Wednesday is, for a third year, provided by the Peter Kiewit Foundation.
